The term ‘Friendsgiving’ has been honed in the last couple of years as another reason to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, but instead of the obligatory usual suspects gathered around the table, Friendsgiving encompasses the people we actually choose to be around on a daily basis.
Real talk? Yes.
On November 23rd, that’s exactly what we did!
Westchester County has always been home, however, when it comes to networking, there’s something missing. Enter: the fun laid-back events that don’t come with a ‘business casual attire’ to attend. Who wants to go to that? I like to present myself to potential new relationships as me, the way I dress, not someone I should be based on the mold these stuffy events want me to be. Sorry, not RSVP’ing ‘yes‘ to that.
That’s why when fellow Westchester Blogger Babes, Neelab Hussaini of Pears and Places (@pearlsandplaces) and Angelica Londono of Whiskey and Cutoffs (@whiskeyandcutoffs) brought up the idea of putting together a community event in White Plains, NY to bring like minded locals and their friends to build relationships in a more laid back way, I was game. That’s when the first annual Friendsgiving Brew was born.
With a little over a month to plan and execute, we got straight to work by securing the venue, Wolf and Warrior Brewing Company, the DJ; DJ Serna, the photographer, Paola Kaoud, vendors, gift bag sponsors and raffle ticket items.
The day of the event quickly approached and by that time, we had over 30 local bloggers and influencers RSVP’d and 200 others. Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised to see so many people interested in attending our event, we were stoked! Plus Angelica and I are were bronzed thanks to our spray tans by Soleil by Erin Pak. Do yourself a favor and check her out!
As the night kicked off, people started to pour in and at one point, it was getting more difficult to get through the crowd. Guests were shopping, sampling local crafted beer and wine, dancing, taking photos and most importantly building relationships and exchanging Instagram handles.
With over 100 stories on social tagged to the event, we could not have been happier with the turnout. Angelica, Neelab and myself plan to make this a yearly occurrence, so stay tuned and reach out if you know any brand or business who’s trying to get in on Friendsgiving 2020! Plus who knows, we might get the itch to plan something unexpected in the coming months! We’re quirky that way.
In the meantime enjoy the amazing photography of Paola Kaoud, she kicked ass!I’ll also be posting about our outfits styled by the amazing LOLA NY.
Thank you so much to all our guests and sponsors!
